The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.
January 22, 2014 – Richard K. Hellerman obtains summary judgment in Cook County Circuit Court – After a 90 minute hearing, Mr. Hellerman obtained summary judgment on behalf of a container manufacturer against a lease broker for return of an equipment lease deposit. The Court awarded Mr. Hellerman's client the full amount of the deposit plus costs and attorney's fees.
October 2, 2013 – Richard K. Hellerman obains landmark Appellate decision for banks pursuing defaulting mortgagors – In an important ruling that defines the options available to banks against mortgagors who default on their payment, Mr. Hellerman scored a victory in the Illinois Appellate Court, obtaining an affirmance of the dismissal of a complaint against a bank client. Turczak and Lew v. First American Bank, et al., 2013 IL App (1st) 121964. UPDATE: On January 29, 2014, the Illinois Supreme Court denied plaintiffs' Petition for Leave to Appeal.
